International Airport will most likely be your destination. It
is located approx 16 km (10 miles) from Bucharest. You can find
connecting flights to here through such airlines as

Swiss Air.
British Airways has daily direct flights from London Heathrow to
Bucharest that start from 94 pounds one way.
Romania's national airline,
Tarom, flies from various locations throughout Europe.
Blue Air, a
Romanian budget airline, flies into
Banesa Airport
which is approx 9 km (5 miles) from Bucharest. They fly from Milan,
Rome, Torino, Paris, Lyon, Madrid, Barcelona, Maastricht Aachen, and
Istanbul with plans to expand to other destinations throughout
Europe in the future.
CarpatAir is
another charter airline from Romania. It uses
Timisoara Airport as its hub
and flies to varius destinations in Germany, Italy, and has 2
flights a day from Budapest to Cluj. CarpatAir also flies to various
destinations in Romania from Timisoara.
Another inexpensive way to reach Romania is through its neighbour's capital,
Budapest with WizzAir.
They have very cheap flights from London and other destinations in
Europe. From Budapest you can then get to Romania by Train, Car, or

By Train
Budapest, Hungary, is typically
the gateway to entering Romania from Western/Central Europe. It is
just over 7 hours to Cluj which is an excellent introduction to
Romania and Transylvania. You can check fares and times with the

Romania is fairly well-connected with the European network and also
offers direct trains from Belgrade, Sofia, Thessaloniki,
Istanbul, Chisinau, Warsaw, and more. The Romania railways also
accepts
Eurail and
Interail travellers.
By Road
If you plan to rent a car when travelling to Romania you must
present the vehicle registration, insurance, and your driver's
license (foreign licenses are accepted) at the border. If you have
not purchased insurance in advance it is available at most border
crossings. If you are travelling from Budapest except a long wait at
the border as many Romanians go to Hungary for cheap shopping. For

Buses to Romania are not widely used as there are many rail
connections. Istanbul is the exception to this rule, buses are
faster (approx 12 to 14 hours) and cheaper than the train (approx 18
hours).
