Sinaia, "the Pearl of the
Carpathian Mountains". Chosen by
King Carl as a summer residence
where he then in 1878 built a
stunning palace. The Palace of
Peles is a masterpiece of German
Renaissance architecture
containing an astonishing
collection of medieval arms.
Other monuments found in Sinaia
are Pelisnor Palace; a smaller
19th century house close by
Peles Palace used as a residence
for Queen Maria, and the
beautiful 17th century
monastery.
Sinaia is set in a natural back
drop surrounded
by mountains,
located in the Prahova Valley at
the foot of the Bucegi
Mountains.
It is an important
resort town that tourists have
been flocking to for years and a
popular winter destination with
some of the most ski able slopes
in the country. The town boasts
of high standard hotels and
unique traditional restaurants.
Sinaia is also a very popular
summer destination. It has some
of the most well marked hiking
trails in Romania. Routes are

trekkers from easy to difficult

taking you up to the highest
peak of the
surrounding ranges,
