Romania is dominated by the
Carpathian Mountains, which are an
extension of the Alps. The mountains offer numerous outdoor
activities for the winter traveler, including some of the least
crowded ski resorts in Europe. Ice climbing, snowshoeing and ski
touring are nice options in the winter as well.
The main ski season for Romania’s top resorts is from December to
March. The weather is mild, with good chances of fresh powder and
untouched runs possible any time.
The main ski resorts include Poiana Brasov, Sinaia and Predeal.
Poiana Brasov is located just outside of the city center of
Brasov, with local transport available to the resort. The
resort also boasts some luxury accommodation in the town, or cabanas
on the mountain.
Sinaia resort is located less then 2 hours from
Bucharest International airport and
is world famous for its resort and surrounding landscape.
Peles Palace is a must see when visiting Sinaia.
